TEST, Inc., located in Peru, IL, is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician/Analyst.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. ON-THE-JOB TRAINING PROVIDED.
Rotating on-call weekends and holidays required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, log in, store, and dispose of lab samples as necessary
- Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions, such as filing paperwork, reviewing data and entering data into computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Standardize, calibrate, clean, and maintain all assigned analytical equipment
- Perform daily quality control checks on laboratory equipment
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
- Prepare and maintain all applicable documentation, including instrument calibration and maintenance logs, bench sheets, and quality control charts
- Prepare samples, reagents, media, and bottles as required
- Conduct laboratory analysis of basic to moderate difficulty
- Remain aware of and meet holding time/commitments required by external and internal clients
- Maintain clean work area and wash glassware, as needed
- Maintain inventory of chemicals and equipment at acceptable levels
- Follow laboratory and company policies and procedures
- Safely dispose of water, wastewater, and other environmental samples
- Perform all tasks in a safe, responsible, and ethical manner in accordance with laboratory safety Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and policy
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Live within 20 miles of Peru
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to apply basic math skills to perform calculations and accurately measure substances, liquids, and/or solutions
- Ability to work with samples and chemicals that may emit unpleasant odors
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong work ethic
- Must be able to communicate effectively
- Ability to welcome feedback
- Desire to contribute to a positive work environment
- Basic computer skills
- Occasional overtime
