Environmental Health & Safety Manager (EHS)

  • We’re looking for an EHS Manager to join our lumber mill located in Ackerman, Mississippi. Southeastern Timber Products (STP) produces forest products for customers nationally so they can build their homes and their communities.

    The EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring effective Occupational Safety and Health within the lumber division, as well as compliance with all applicable environmental rules & regulations. The EHS Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, advising, and evaluating health, safety, and environmental concerns within our division to support business objectives and drive results. He or she will inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks and develop corrective measures as needed. The role requires a hands-on approach to provide proactive environmental, occupational health, and safety support to site employees to achieve the goal of zero RIR, and no environmental exceedances.

    Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in safety or environmental sciences or equivalent experience in EHS preferred.
    • 3 to 5 years of occupational safety, health, and environmental experience, preferably in the forest industry, or equivalent industry experience
    • Previous experience in coaching and delivering training is considered an asset.
    • Proven record of accomplishment driving safety culture and transformation.
    • A comprehensive understanding of relevant OSHA, MDEQ, and other State and Federal regulatory requirements is preferred.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management is required.
