    We are looking for a Network Specialist to work with a Government Agency in Monterey. 


    • Position Type: Full time, W2 salaried plus benefits
    • Hours: Normal working hours are 8am-5pm, Monday - Friday
    • Location: Monterey, CA; onsite at Agency office
    • Security Clearance: Must be eligible for Top Secret Clearance


    Responsibilities

    • Network and Security Administration and Support: Provide reports that recommend hardware, software, and network security configurations to meet requirements. Provide administration and support of all network and security devices including but not limited to: Cisco routers and switches, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco FirePOWER intrusion detection system, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA), McAfee Sidewinder Firewalls, F5 load balancers, Juniper Devices, and SolarWinds network performance monitoring platform.
    • Monitor IAVAs: Monitor Information Assurance Vulnerability Management System (IAVM) information and address day-to-day IAVM alerts, bulletins, technical notices, and computer tasking orders (CTO) open in the Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM).
    • Monitoring and Scanning of Cyber Security Assets: Reduce the overall Cyber Security (CS) risk level through monitoring, scanning, and other security methods designed to verify the security posture for all supported systems.
    • Local ACAS Scan Results Evaluation: Provide reports that recommend hardware, software, and network security configurations to meet system and DoD requirements. Ensure all network and security device configurations meet appropriate STIG requirements.
    • Network & Security Device Maintenance: Monitor network performance on operational IT systems and provide reports and recommend solutions for improving system performance. Perform required maintenance to maintain all network and security devices through software updates, scans, and patches.
    • Network & Security Device STIG Compliance: Ensure all network and security device configurations meet appropriate Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements.
    • Network Security Policy Support: Provide technical services to users and maintenance technicians on operational system details to improve operational efficiencies. Assist in the production and administration of network security policies and practices.
    • Networking Documentation Support: Develop network topology diagrams and perform network asset discovery and configuration management. Provide status updates, demonstrations, briefs, and documentation.
    • Network and Security Administration: Serve as the Network Security Officer (NSO), who reviews and approves Firewall Change Requests (FCRs).
    • Monthly Status Reports: high level monthly summary of activities and issues uncovered as well as anticipated issues.


    Requirements

    • CCNA required (may be obtained before officially starting the position)
    • Linux desired
    • Security CE or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Security Essentials certification required
    • Experience with enterprise level projects
    • Experience with Quality of Service characterization and network assurance in an operational environment
