Network Planning Manager manages a team that plans, designs, evaluates, and optimizes network systems. Oversees network analysis initiatives to gather metrics like effectiveness, efficiency, and security and identify areas for improvement. Being a Network Planning Manager designs solutions to improve this performance. Communicates and collaborates with other organizational teams to design network solutions that align with organizational systems and objectives. Additionally, Network Planning Manager ensures networks are capable of adapting to new organizational initiatives and potential use cases. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Network Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     What You'll Do (depending on the role):

    • Lead and manage the planning department, including supervising staff and overseeing day-to-day operations
    • Develop and implement comprehensive planning strategies and policies
    • Review and analyze development proposals, zoning changes, and land use applications
    • Coordinate with other departments, agencies, and organizations on planning-related matters
    • Represent the organization at public meetings, hearings, and events

    What We're Looking For:

    • Planning Manager
      • Bachelor's Degree in a related field; and
      • Six years of professional planning experience with some supervisory work (four years if you have a Master's).
    • Senior Planner
      • Bachelor's Degree in a related field; and
      • Four years of professional planning experience with some supervisory work (two years if you have a Master's).

    Recruitment Timeline:

    • First Review Deadline: week of April 22 (we will strive to review every two weeks)
    • Review Applications: Approximately one week
    • Interview and Selection Process: Estimated to take 1 month
      • Panel Interview - typically our first step, we conduct an interview between the selected applicant and members of City staff the applicant may work with. We try to give two weeks notice for this. 
      • Department Head Interview - typically our last step, we will have top candidates from the panel interview process interview one-on-one with the Department Head. This usually takes place 1-2 weeks after the panel interview. From here, the Department Head will make the hiring recommendation.
      • For applicants out of the area, you can request a video interview, which is approved on a case by case basis, but note that we prefer applicants to come in person for at least one of the interviews.
    • The top applicant that receives the hiring recommendation and accepts the conditional offer must successfully complete the background. For this position, it is an employment and education verification and a driving and computerized criminal history background check. This part of the process takes about 1 week. The next step would be to confirm the offer and work together on a start date. 
    The City has one vacancy that this recruitment is attempting to fill. The position is open until filled, therefore this is an open/continuous process and the recruitment can be closed at any time.  An eligibility list will be established at the end of the process, which will be retained for 1 year, until the list has been exhausted, or discarded at the sole discretion of the City.
