Position Summary
The Supply Chain Network Strategy team develops and refines the fulfillment strategy and architectural network design for Grainger. This position is responsible for determining the optimal configuration of Grainger’s supply chain network including the number and location of facilities. The plan must consider the realities of the marketplace, key business initiatives, and the competitive environment. They will also evaluate, design, and recommend market level solutions that are in line with both the global Supply Chain strategy and Grainger's overarching goals. The proposed solutions should effectively balance capital expenditure, operational costs, inventory, and transportation expenses, all while maintaining strategic flexibility for the future.
This role will be based out of our Lake Forest offices.
You Will:
Evaluate, design and propose DC and branch architecture solutions for existing operations and the network build out. Ensure these solutions support overall Global Supply Chain strategy.
Support network design for US, Canada, and in close coordination with Mexico. Provide consultation to other business units on supply chain process globally.
Interpret corporate strategy and business level initiatives to understand the impact on supply chain architecture.
Review and update the long-range capital plan for network investments
Gather and synthesize internal and external information to understand Transportation, Labor, and Supply Chain trends that impact the design and function of the DC and Branch networks. Highlight risks in emerging business trends and articulate impact to network.
You Have:
Strong strategic thinking skills to analyze complex business challenges, develop innovative solutions, and drive forward-thinking initiatives in alignment with organizational goals
Effective at building and delivering content in a variety of settings to different audiences, including executive leadership.
Proven success in influencing and persuading decision makers at all levels.
Ability to think on a broad canvas to understand problems, impacts and solutions across all areas of the organization.
Leverage financial, quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions.
6 -10 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: supply chain consulting, distribution, merchandising, strategy development, marketing, transportation, and/or inventory management.
