Ensures logging and documentation of daily network operations incidents and changes. Additionally, Network Operations Director leads troubleshooting and resolution of routine network issues and conducts root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrences and identify potential technological, training, or process improvements. Automates routine tasks using scripting or basic programs. Advises on budget expenditures to ensure required tools and equipment are procured and maintained. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or it. Typically reports to a director. The Network Operations Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Operations Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     POSITION SUMMARY: The Mountain Operations Director is responsible for daily oversight and management of all mountain operations departments including Lift Maintenance, Lift Operations, Vehicle Maintenance and snow removal, Ski and Bike Patrol, Trail Maintenance (slope erosion, water management, re-vegetation), Grooming, Snowmaking, Terrain Park, Fuels and Fire Management, property boundary and mountain night lighting management. This position is hands on providing direction, training, mentoring, leadership, and discipline when necessary, working side by side with the crew in the field including nights during snowmaking and night ski. 


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Maintain appropriate, professional relationships with all levels of staff, business partners, and contractors.  
    • Model the company ethos, leading by example as member of senior leadership team.
    • Daily oversight of all mountain operations departments outlined in the Summary.
    •  Work with GM and Accounting to build labor, expense, and capital budgets for all mountain operations departments.
    • Maintain working knowledge of HRIS system, submitting required paperwork to HR in a timely manner.
    • Develop and maintain updated standard operating procedures and processes.
    • Project Manager for all mountain operations projects including but not limited to night ski lighting, terrain expansion, lift installation, mountain shop clean up/organization/ expansion, bike trail maintenance/improvement/design, snowmaking system maintenance/upgrades/expansion, vehicle and machinery evaluation/purchase/replacement schedule.
    • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of contractors, 
    • Maintain a culture of safety ensuring that daily/weekly safety topics are conducted.
    • Extensive knowledge in OSHA training and documentation.
    • Documented knowledge of ANSI B77.
    • Ability to operate heavy equipment: loaders, excavators, skid steer.
    • Minimum of 1500 hours of grooming or equivalent experience; winch experience preferred. 
    • 1500 hours of snowmaking or equivalent experience (Demac Lenko, SMI, and TA).
    • SCADA/HMI experience.
    • Responsible for oversight and maintenance of all equipment and vehicles at Mountain Shop including snow cats, snowmobiles, ATV’s, trucks, vans, trailers.
    • Perform duties of Slope Maintenance Manager in his/her absence – includes night shifts during Snowmaking season (mid Oct – early Jan).
    • Oversight of tracking and logging water usage for Snowmaking.
    • Completes daily operational snowmaking, grooming and trail maintenance logs.
    • Oversight of water run off/ natural spring diversion for trails and lift terminals. 
    • Responsible for Snowmaking repairs with machine/hand work and/or oversight of subcontractors.  
    • Responsible for oversight of downhill and cross-country bike trails. Assists with planning and execution of new trail building according to master plan. 
    • Responsible for grooming of downhill and cross country trails.
    • Responsible for ensuring all department heads prepare timecards for bi-weekly payroll including fixing missed punches, ensuring proper use of time clock, timecard approvals, time off requests, and other payroll related items.
    • Oversight of Fuels and Fire reduction - grass on runs using tractor, fixing water bars, maintaining erosion control, and weed control, directing sawyer crew for forest management, ski and bike trail widening, building of new trails.
    • Complete timely, thoughtful, performance evaluations as required by company/

    • Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company ethos.
    • Maintain an exceptional level of guest service in all interaction with guests, fellow employees, and management.
    • Actively participates in company functions and employee recognition programs.
    • Assist and support mountain departments in the field for races, events and operations on high volume days.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

    • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
    • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
    • Ability to work in a large team environment where all input is valued and considered including but not limited to Ownership, GM, Granby Ranch managers, GM of Development GM, architect, civil engineers, contractors
    • Speak, read, write in English fluently.
    • SCADA/HMI experience.
    • Level lll skier or rider with ablity to navigate all terrain.
    • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. 
    • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills required.
    • Must work well under pressure and be able to receive and carry out instructions.
    • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor during high volume business.
    • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with guests and fellow employees.


    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required & experience commensurate with job duties.
    • Minimum eight (8) years mountain operations experience required. 
    • Minimum five (5) years experience in leadership role.
    • Previous experience working in snowmaking and trail crew required. 
    • Previous experience with oversight and responsibility for Ski/Bike Patrol, Lift Maintenance/Lift Ops, Terrain Park required.
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to clear Company MVR check required.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

    •  Overnight shifts mid Oct-March maybe required.
    • Work schedule requires 50 hours per week, availability on all holidays including 12/25 
    • Ability to work in variable weather conditions including cold temperatures, blowing snow.
    • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
    • Ability to perform strenuous exercise at 8000-10,000 feet in all weather conditions.
    • Stand, walk, hike, ski or snowboard, for at least 7 hours of a 10 hour shift.
    • Reaching, Bending, Sitting, Standing, Carrying, Lifting, Reaching, Kneeling, Squatting.
    • Verbal and auditory abilities necessary for communication with others.
    • Dexterity to use hand tools, computer, operate machinery.
