Network Engineering Manager manages and implements the plans, designs, and development of all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Manager conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Manager keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. May be certified or has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. We specialize in creating adhesive bonded fastening to bear on the technical challenges of the marine, energy, and other industrial sectors. The Network Engineering Manager oversees the development and management of the organization's network engineering team, as well as the network and firewall solutions. They supervise the network engineering staff and ensure adherence to all network security and firewall requirements, best practices, and standards. Responsibilities encompass establishing and upholding policies and procedures, conducting audits, and staying updated with trends in network and firewall technologies.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Formulate technology vision and strategize for network and firewall solutions.
    • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, industry benchmarks, and best practices to fulfill business objectives.
    • Serve as the primary contact and project manager for the network engineering team.
    • Conduct network security analysis and administration, including expertise in firewalls, routers, and switches.
    • Manage network administration and development, incorporating cloud-based architecture.
    • Create and uphold network and disaster recovery plans in anticipation of power outages, system damage, etc.
    • Regularly assess existing technologies, systems, and contribute to staffing decisions.
    • Participate in solution and technology evaluations, proposing necessary changes.
    • Supervise administration and development of high-availability physical and virtual environments.
    • Oversee network architecture tasks, including solution configuration and troubleshooting.
    • Collaborate with other IT teams and business stakeholders during project engagement.
    • Effectively communicate with non-technical executives and staff.
    • Immediately report any suspicious or hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
    • Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure quality and safety by complying with all relevant company policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS: To excel in this role, an individual must demonstrate the following competencies:

    • Preferably hold CCNP certification or equivalent.
    • Proven proficiency in designing networks.
    • Extensive experience with networking equipment such as firewalls, routers, and switches.
    • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing complex network infrastructure.
    • In-depth understanding of network infrastructure and associated hardware.
    • Proficiency in network routing & switching (Layers 1-4) and working knowledge of the OSI model.
    • Familiarity with modern protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, SDWAN).
    • Knowledge of wireless networks, VPNs, VLANs, network and server virtualization, microsegmentation, and load balancing.
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree in information technology, information systems, computer science, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
    • At least 10 years of experience in a related field.
    • Demonstrated success in leading teams.
