Network Engineering Director plans, designs, and develops all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Director directs network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand.     Qualifications

    Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
    • Developing and implementing configuration management plans for complex Local- and Wide-Area Networks;
    • Configuring network hubs, switches and routers as a network administrator;
    • Monitoring network performance and network traffic patterns;
    • Recommending hardware/software replacements or upgrades to meet current and future requirements; and
    • Identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities and risks.
    Also, your resume must demonstrate once year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

    1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Installing network software fixes and upgrades.

    2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Working closing with customers to ensure seamless implementation of IT products or equipment.

    3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Briefing customers on IT security requirements.

    4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Troubleshooting network problems such as outages.
