Network Engineering Director plans, designs, and develops all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Director directs network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Director keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. Usually is certified and has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Engineering Facilities Program Director provides critical support for the research, academic, administrative, instructional, and experiential learning spaces within the College of Engineering. In alignment with the strategic plans and priorities established by the Dean and college leadership, this position directs the planning, installation, renovation, and maintenance of facilities across the buildings occupied by Engineering, including Fitzpatrick/Cushing, Stinson-Remick, Multidisciplinary Research Building, Hessert, White Field, Nieuwland, and McCourtney. Where those spaces are co-occupied with other colleges or divisions, this position collaborates and partners with their respective facilities directors to help ensure the successful completion of projects pertaining to Engineering spaces. Additionally, the Engineering Facilities Program Director manages the college's safety initiatives and activities, and they represent Engineering and regularly collaborate with Facilities Design & Operations, Risk Management & Safety, and a variety of other University departments involved in space planning, utilization, and reconfiguration. This position:
    • Coordinates and proactively proposes improvements to the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the College of Engineering facilities and facility-related equipment, as well as multi-year improvements to the facilities themselves to ensure that they remain functioning at their highest level. Plans and coordinates with internal stakeholders, University departments, and outside contractors on the periodic and recurring repairs to teaching facilities, high tech labs, clean rooms, and a variety of other spaces in support of the college's teaching, research, and administrative operations. Monitors all facility requests that are submitted by College of Engineering personnel to determine the prioritization of requests and actively leads initiatives to promote a culture of safety in Engineering.
    • Represents the College of Engineering faculty and staff on new buildings and existing facility renovation projects to include construction, maintenance, and safety-related activities. Acts as a liaison for project teams to ensure appropriate input to team decisions throughout the entire project. Prepares fully-informed estimates on renovation projects and performs regular analysis of budget vs. expenditures to aid in short and long-term decision-making.
    • Performs analyses and provides metrics related to space utilization and useability, ensuring accurate information is reflected in the University's InVision system and/or any other systems or databases relating to this information. Works with a variety of University departments and stakeholders to develop reports and/or financial estimates of projects required to meet the evolving needs of the College of Engineering and its faculty, staff, and students.
    • Other responsibilities both as assigned and undertaken as a proactive team member to enhance the facilities within the College of Engineering, including but not limited to management of building access, biosafety cabinet recertifications, chemical and biological package receipt, etc.



    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in Engineering
    • 5 or more years of experience with facilities design and maintenance of laboratories and office spaces, along with construction management and knowledge of building construction practices
    • Superb project management skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse constituency of stakeholders across the college and University; a proactive team member who takes initiative, exercises excellent judgement and attention to detail, and maintains a professional, courteous, and helpful attitude
    • Please note - this position interacts with new construction and renovations, involving the potential for exposed materials, along with laboratories housing containers of chemicals and/or gases and helps to ensure safe facilities within the college in the event of adverse weather conditions.



    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience in an academic environment is preferred.
