Network Engineering Director plans, designs, and develops all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Director directs network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Director keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. Usually is certified and has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     What You'll Do:

    We are seeking a seasoned and effective Director of Building Engineering & Maintenance to oversee facilities and operations across our network of 11 charter schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in the planning, development, and maintenance of our school facilities, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and conducive environment for teaching and learning.

    This position will be over security and charged with improving the security measures at each campus.

    Key Responsibilities include but not limited by:

    Strategic Facilities Management:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities management strategy aligned with the overall goals and mission of LEARN.

    • Collaborate with school leadership to understand their facility needs and implement solutions that support educational objectives.

    • Reduce the occupancy expenses and deliver cost effective solutions to maximize the utilization and life of physical assets.



    Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of building engineers, maintenance staff, and custodial personnel.

    • Establish and maintain a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the facilities and operations team.



    Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Oversee the planning and execution of preventive maintenance programs for all school facilities.

    • Coordinate and manage repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects as needed.

    • Manage work order requests



    Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.

    • Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a secure and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors.



    Energy Management:
    • Implement energy-efficient practices and initiatives to reduce operating costs and environmental impact.

    • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions for energy management and conservation.



    Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the facilities and operations budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

    • Provide regular budget updates and recommendations for optimizing facilities-related investments.


    Construction Management:
    • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion

    • Manage capital to stay within budget

    • Overseeing all onsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.



    Vendor Management:
    • Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality services and competitive pricing.

    • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.



    Space Planning and Utilization:
    • Work with school leadership to optimize space utilization and plan for future growth or changes in facility needs.

    • Develop and maintain accurate records of space allocation and usage

      What You'll Need:

    • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in a Management role in facilities management preferably within the education sector

    • CFM or FMP Certification preferred

    • Bachelor's degree is preferred

    • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance best practices, and safety regulations.

    • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

    • Proven track record of strategic planning and successful implementation of facilities-related initiatives.

    • Budget management experience and proficiency in project management.

    • Construction Management experience and overseeing budget for projects such as real estate development

    • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
