Network Engineering Director plans, designs, and develops all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Director directs network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Director keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. Usually is certified and has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     1. Street and Drainage Infrastructure Management:

    2. Traffic Operations and Transportation Planning:
      • Address traffic problems and implement solutions to enhance traffic flow and safety, including pedestrians and cyclists.
      • Collaborate with transportation planners to optimize city transit and connectivity.
    3. Stakeholder Engagement:
      • Liaise with multiple stakeholders including the Texas Department of Transportation, local residents, business owners, and other governmental entities.
      • Foster strong relationships and effectively communicate project impacts and plans.
    4. Presentation and Reporting:
      • Provide comprehensive presentations to City Management and City Council regarding engineering projects, progress, and challenges.
      • Prepare and deliver reports on infrastructure status, project completions, and future plans.
    5. Budget Management:
      • Oversee the engineering department's budget, ensuring effective allocation and management of funds.
      • Ensure projects are completed within budget constraints and identify opportunities for cost savings.
    6. Team Leadership and Development:
      • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
      • Coordinate with other department heads to ensure interdepartmental collaboration and efficiency.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
    • Extensive experience in the maintenance and management of street and drainage infrastructure.
    • Proven track record in solving complex traffic and transportation problems.
    • Demonstrated ability in engaging and managing multiple stakeholders.
    • Strong experience in presenting to city management and council.
    • Proficient in municipal budget management.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
    • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to city infrastructure and planning.
