Network Engineer jobs in Kentucky

Network Engineer develops and deploys plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Additionally, Network Engineer keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineer work is closely managed.     • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
    • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
    • Acquisition & Deployment
    • Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
    • Design, implement, and support firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, and remote-access VPNs
    • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
    • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
    • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
    • Operational Management
    • Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
    • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
    • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
    • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, and other network appliances.
    • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
    • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
    • Participate in managing all network security solutions.

    Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery

    • Strong belief in DevSecOps practices
    • Strong networking background
    • Have deep technical knowledge on Cisco Technologies
    • Advanced network design and troubleshooting skills for LAN and WAN, including dynamic routing protocols, i.e, BGP and IGPs
