Network Engineer develops and deploys plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Additionally, Network Engineer keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineer work is closely managed.   • Basic Function: The Network Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting computer networks including hardware/software support, training, and special projects. Plans, designs and implements data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems. Assists in coordinating special projects including network related wiring plans, LAN/WAN hardware/software purchases, and system installation, backup, maintenance and problem solving. Assists in providing network and remote connectivity. Supports and maintains both physical and virtual network servers and appliances. Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security. Researches, analyzes, monitors, troubleshoots and resolves server or data network problems. He or she may also assist with other responsibilities, as needed.   Essential Functions: Directs or assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of network systems to include desktop PC’s, servers, network equipment, and software applications. Help to ensure the integrity and security of all network hardware Install network hardware and software and make needed upgrades and repairs Maintain network and computer system security and ensure that all systems are operating correctly. Maintain security patches and updates on network servers and equipment. Maintain a surveillance / camera system. Install new hardware as needed and keep the system in proper working order. EDI Co-Coordinator - coordinate all Electronic Document Interchange Systems and oversee implementation of new trading partner applications. Ensure Backups / Replication of network servers and data. Coordinate backup schedules and/or rotation with the IT Support Specialist. Backups should be verified at a minimum of once each quarter and whenever significant hardware or software changes are made to the target device or backup system.
