Network Engineer develops and deploys plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Additionally, Network Engineer keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineer work is closely managed. Job Summary:
The system administrator/network administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of IT Infrastructure Systems, ensuring performance, availability, and security of those systems. The system administrator/network administrator may install or upgrade infrastructure components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot and offer technical support for projects. Systems administrator/network administrator is often involved in proactive work.
The duties often include: monitoring and testing of systems for weakness, verifying systems are kept current with updates, and assisting the IT Director install and implement security programs. The systems administrator/network administrator will be responsible for managing helpdesk requests and directing desktop support staff’s daily duties.
