Network Control Center Manager manages the daily activities of a network service function to ensure efficient, reliable, and secure operations that meet users' needs. Directs testing, configuration changes, or upgrades to network hardware or software. Being a Network Control Center Manager oversees monitoring of the network traffic and performance to identify and troubleshoot any issues. Leads incident response and implements standard incident management processes, including root cause analysis (RCA) of any issues to identify and deploy corrective actions. Additionally, Network Control Center Manager develops capacity planning forecasts and strategies. Manages relations with vendors and service providers and monitors performance quality to ensure required service levels are delivered. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Network Control Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Control Center Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary

     

    This position is responsible for supporting the Center’s telecommunications infrastructure; data storage, recovery and security protocols; hardware and software acquisition and maintenance; and for filling in for general technical support for staff as needed.  


    This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and works closely with the IT team, and other program areas as necessary.


    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities


    Telecommunications Infrastructure (30%)

    • Design and maintenance of network infrastructure within and between organization offices.
    • Has direct responsibility for security and redundancy of internal telecom systems.
    • Meets with vendors regarding networking options and makes recommendations for upgrades.
    • Troubleshooting complex network communication issues.

    Software and Hardware (30%)

    • Responsibility for selection, purchase and maintenance of servers, data storage devices and network-related hardware within organization offices.
    • Responsibility for server hardware and installation of server operating systems.
    • Administration of AWS and ubuntu cloud servers and networking.
    • Electronic file storage planning and strategy taking into data classification and security.
    • Recommend appropriate storage locations based on encryption needs and cloud vs onsite.
    • Planning, monitoring, and testing disaster recovery including backups.

    Security administration (30%)

    • Planning for, monitoring and response to security incidents.
    • Planning and implementing data breach protocols.
    • Evaluating and recommending solutions for organizational security vulnerabilities
    • O365 monitoring, troubleshooting, and researching new options for integrations between onsite and Entra ID.
    • Conduct litigation-related discovery searches.

    Backup support for staff (10%)

    • Provide backup and escalation support for desktop hardware and software issues.


    Essential Qualifications and Skills

     

    • 7 years of telecommunications infrastructure design and management in a multisite environment.
    • 5 years of experience in network security planning and implementation.
    • 5 years of experience with developing and implementing data breach protocols.
    • 7 years of experience in network and server hardware configuration, installation, and maintenance.
    • 7 years of experience with firewall configuration and optimization, Ubiquiti experience preferred.
    • 7 years of experience with routers, routing protocols, and overall routing designs.
    • 7 years of experience with VPN technologies to include IPsec and SSL technologies.
    • 7 years of experience with administering Ubuntu servers and Apache web servers.
    • 5 years of experience with cloud infrastructure and networking: MS Azure and AWS including EC2.
    • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Windows server OS
    • Knowledge of PCI requirements related to networking.
    • Strong communication skills and orientation towards customer service.
    • College degree or commensurate professional experience.
    • Excellent problem solving skills.

     

    Working Conditions 


    Preferential hiring locations for this position are Tucson, AZ, Oakland, CA or Portland OR.

    Hours of positions should cover the evening hours – up to (7:00pm)/8:00pm Arizona time.
