POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Accounting provides oversight over the accounting close process, ensures compliance to local statutory regulations, maintains accounting policies and manages an active internal control process, builds relationships with operations, plays a key role in the development of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance analysis and produces management financial packages.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Leads monthly accounting close activities.
• Develops accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations for strategic thinking and direction, and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
• Establishes accounting operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies, designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems, and implementing change.
• Creates enhanced FP&A analytics and reporting through in-depth operations analysis.
• Provides financial projections by coordinating, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial information, and participates in monthly operating reviews.
• Ensures timeliness and accuracy of financial submissions to Parent Organization.
• Establishes rolling internal control reviews with all functional activities, identifies control weaknesses, gains buy-in for action to either correct or mitigate control weaknesses.
• Successfully pursues continuous improvement actions within finance and accounting to streamline operations, improve the timeliness of the accounting close to improve finance and accounting operational efficiency.
• Supports M&A activities and ad hoc projects as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises employees to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work assignments; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing concerns and resolving problems.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university is required, Master’s Degree preferred.
 

Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ relevant accounting experience and 5 years managing high performance teams required.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and databases and advanced level of Microsoft Excel is required.

Certificates & Licenses: CPA/CMA or relevant accounting qualification is preferred.

Other Requirements: Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication.
