    Performs construction and maintenance work at Applied Research Laboratories (ARL) including the Lake Travis Test Station (LTTS).

    Job Details:

    • Building maintenance and repair. Furniture and office moves. Painting and erecting structures at ARL and LTTS.
    • Assist in the carpenter shop with repairs or construction.
    • Assist with welding using basic tools such as grinders, drills and other hand powered tools.
    • Paint metal, walls and deck areas of LTTS.
    • Perform plumbing tasks such as toilet repairs, ice machines and condenser drain lines.
    • Assist in lab projects such as hauling equipment to LTTS, lab specific work vans and field trips.
    • Assist with landscape maintenance including but not limited to watering, weed removal, blowing and trimming.
    • Occasionally assist with trash and recycle removal and cleaning. Cleaning and detailing of fleet vehicles.
    • Other related functions as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High school graduation or GED.
    • Two years experience in construction and maintenance including framing walls, hanging doors, plumbing, painting and operating forklifts and trucks.
    • Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
    • Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.

    U.S. Citizenship. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, job offer will be contingent on selected applicant applying for access to classified information within 14 days of job offer and receiving at least interim access to classified information within 10 days of the application being submitted. If interim access is approved as described, employment must commence within 30 days of approval for access. Eligibility for access must continue without interruption during employment in this position. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    More than two years experience in carpentry, plumbing, painting, erecting buildings and concrete work, as well as operating forklifts and trucks. ​

    Salary Range: $38,000-40,000 / negotiable depending on qualifications.

    Employment Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
