The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, located in Hobart, OK is in search of a Museum Curator. The curator is under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. The museum curator will be responsible for developing exhibits, presentations, articles, and media pieces that share the collection and related history with the public, as well as developing museum programming for all ages. This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work schedule.
Job Duties:
Qualifications:
· Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Museum studies, Military studies, History, or related field.
· Knowledge of military history
· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of museum and collection standards and best practices
· Understanding of proper museum artifact handling
· Knowledge of museum collections database, Past Perfect strongly preferred
· Knowledge of exhibit development from concept to completion.
Skills:
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
· Research, writing, and editing skills
· An understanding of visitor-centered approaches to content, development, and interpretation in physical exhibits and digital spaces.
