    The Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR) has an exciting opportunity that only comes along once in a great while. We are hiring a Tax Credit Administration Unit Supervisor that will lead a team within the Working Families Tax Credit Division.

    About the Position:
    This position will be responsible for the supervision and direction of Tax Credit Administration Unit Specialists, providing training and coaching to staff and resolving errors and issues with WFTC applications.

     This position will:
    • Supervise a unit of Public Benefits Specialists who gather information and determine applicant eligibility for the WFTC.
    • Control overall flow of work processed by the unit.
    • Use reports to ensure that planned unit performance volumes are being maintained within established timelines.
    • Analyze, monitor, and assign tasks, workload, and performance standards to ensure smooth flow of work.
    • Explain policies, rules, procedures, agency goals and performance information to unit staff.
    • Interpret policy and procedures regarding eligibility for staff members.
    • Establish unit workloads and quality standards, reviews complaints and eligibility determinations to ensure appropriate data gathering and verification techniques are utilized.
    • Assist customers with the process of applying for WFTC.

    One year of experience as a Public Benefits Specialist 3 or 4
     
    OR
     
    A Bachelor’s degree or higher AND three years of experience examining/processing loan applications, medical insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment insurance claims, or experience providing staff support in financial eligibility determination, or analyzing, verifying, and evaluating financial or tax data and information.
     
    OR 
     
    An Associate’s degree or higher AND five years of experience examining/processing loan applications, medical insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment insurance claims, or experience providing staff support in financial eligibility determination, or analyzing, verifying and evaluating financial or tax data and information.
     
    Equivalent experience examining/processing loan applications, medical insurance or rehabilitation claims, unemployment insurance claims, or experience providing staff support in financial eligibility determination, or analyzing, verifying and evaluating financial or tax data and information many substitute year for year for education.

    Preference may be given to candidates who possess:
    • Knowledge of supervisory and management principles and the state personnel system.
    • Ability to manage a team with a large volume of work.
    • Ability to work with complex technical regulations and procedures and analyze complex situations.
    • Knowledge of philosophy and practices of public assistance programs.
    • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to correspond with individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) using interpreters and translators as requested or necessary.
    • Ability to carry out all aspects of personnel management of a large virtual unit of line and lead workers performing the duties of direct customer service for public assistance programs.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office and be able to demonstrate flexibility in completing multiple assignments while meeting performance standards.
    This position offers hybrid/flexible remote work; however the official duty station is Tumwater and the successful candidate must agree to travel to the office as operational needs dictate. Details of teleworking considerations can be addressed during the interview process.
