Mortgage Credit Analyst assesses the risk and creditworthiness of loan applicants and recommends loan approval, terms, or application denial. Gathers necessary credit, income, and tax information to conduct financial assessments. Being a Mortgage Credit Analyst reviews and verifies property appraisals, collateral value, and key indicators such as debt-to-income and loan-to-value ratios. Prepares a detailed credit analysis and summary using underwriting guidelines, risk assessment frameworks, and following applicable regulatory compliance. Additionally, Mortgage Credit Analyst may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Mortgage Credit Analyst work is closely managed.   • About The Role

    Our growing financial institution is seeking a Credit Analyst to be an integral part of our Commercial Lending team. The successful candidate will provide support to the Chief Banking Officer and Loan Officers by analyzing customer financial statements, tax returns, budgets, and other financial data. Performs ratio, industry benchmark, historical, and budget to actual comparative analysis.  Prepare loan reports from which loan decisions are based upon and performs underwriting analysis.  Provides quality customer service through friendly, professional, and efficient service to customers and outside associates. Assures effective and efficient administration of installment, commercial and real estate loan collateral files by the timely and accurate processing of all documents and entries, which are in compliance with bank, State, and Federal regulations. Assists commercial lenders with credit analysis and credit approval.

     

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepares and/or oversees the preparation of credit authorizations, supporting documents and loan information sheets for new and existing accounts Spreads and/or analyzes financial statements and tax returns of potential and existing customers using appropriate tools and credit criteria.
    • Analyze financial statements and tax returns and develop and convey questions and comments pertaining to financial trends and relevant borrower and industry data.  
    • Analyze and research the value of collateral securing loans including preparation of internal commercial real estate evaluation forms.
    • Communicate with borrowers to obtain additional information, ask questions, etc.
    • Supports Loan Officers in related portfolio management activities,.
    • Monitor borrower’s financial condition, covenant compliance, and communicate deterioration or changes in borrower financial condition.
    • Maintain service level expectations as defined by the bank.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.
    • Actively participates in Bank related and community volunteer events.

    Comply with Bank policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

     


    About You

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or similar/related field (or) more than four years of bank lending experience
    • 1 year of banking experince preferred.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

    • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Effective time management, and excellent communication skills are required.
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level

    Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

     

    Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: The employee is constantly required to stand and walk. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

     

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The pay range for this position is $26.50 to $35.00 per hour. Pay is dependent upon relevant experience.
