Mortgage Credit Analyst assesses the risk and creditworthiness of loan applicants and recommends loan approval, terms, or application denial. Gathers necessary credit, income, and tax information to conduct financial assessments. Being a Mortgage Credit Analyst reviews and verifies property appraisals, collateral value, and key indicators such as debt-to-income and loan-to-value ratios. Prepares a detailed credit analysis and summary using underwriting guidelines, risk assessment frameworks, and following applicable regulatory compliance. Additionally, Mortgage Credit Analyst may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Mortgage Credit Analyst work is closely managed. Senior Credit Analyst

  • National Capital Bank (NCB) is currently seeking a Full-Time Senior Credit Analyst for our Headquarters location on Capitol Hill. There is a strong opportunity for growth in this position and at the National Capital Bank! This is a hybrid in-office and remote work position. Our Senior Credit Analyst is a critical position on NCB’s Credit Team working to ensure sound loan quality and support our “customers come first” philosophy. This position looks for opportunities to exceed our customers’ expectations and deliver exceptional service with a focus on financial analysis and underwriting.

     

    Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

    • Business Loan Presentations: 
      1. Completes and presents high quality work in established format.
      2. Completes thorough, in-depth analyses of new commercial credit requests, renewals of existing loans, and annual loan/relationship reviews.  

     

    • Financial Analyses:
      1. Prepares financial spreadsheets, reports, and summaries for Senior Credit Officer, Relationship Managers, and mortgage sales team members for prospective new loans, renewals, and existing loans. 
      2. Identifies any concerns or other findings that may have an adverse effect on the loan collateral or the borrower’s ability to repay the loan.

     

    • Portfolio Management:
      1. Determines that loan file documentation is sufficient and accessible to effectively complete financial analyses for BLPs and other requests, and to ensure adequate enforceability of the company’s position for all loans reviewed.


    Qualifications and Proficiencies: 

    • Outstanding quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with advanced Excel formulas and analysis. 
    • Demonstrated ability to present often complex analyses in a clear, concise manner.
    • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
    • Ability to multitask with minimal supervision. 
    • Ability to obtain customer trust and maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to follow policy and procedures.
    • Reliability and dependability.  
    • Ability to work collaboratively with team members toward common Bank goals.
    • Willingness to train and support Credit Analysts and Associates.

    Required Experience:

    • Three to Five years of experience underwriting a wide variety of higher level and complex commercial loan types at a lending institution. 
    • Prefer experience at a community or smaller regional bank where one has worked C&I and CRE loans. 

     

    Required Education:

    • A college degree or equivalent combination of education and/or professional experience required.
    • Preferably in Business Administration, Accounting and/or Economics
