No Position Purpose Reporting to the Associate Dean of Libraries, Collections & Content Strategies, leads the coordination of selecting, licensing, and collection analysis activities for the Dartmouth Libraries. Contributes to the implementation of collection development strategies for the Dartmouth Library. This role engages in vendor negotiations for electronic resource licensing, approval plans, and analysis of collection use. Develops and streamlines workflows for making the Library's collections discoverable and accessible. Focus on diversity and inclusion in the acquisition of collections. Manages Acquisitions DepartmentDescription Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Masters plus 6 or more years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities * ALA accredited Master's Degree in library and/or information science or equivalent education and experience.
* Six plus years of applicable collection development and staff management experience, including team leadership
* At least 1 year of experience drafting and negotiating electronic resource licenses, including license terms pertaining to copyright/fair use, accessibility, text/data mining, etc. Familiarity with model licenses and evolving licensing trends.
* Advanced knowledge of best practices in collection development and acquisitions.
* Knowledge of digital tools, standards, and initiatives, such as ONIX, SUSHI, and COUNTER
* Experience with assessment, statistics, and budget/accounting practices.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders
* Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative, inter-departmental approach to problem solving and decision making.
* Experience with vendor negotiation best practicesPreferred Qualifications * Familiarity and application of NASIG Core Competencies for Electronic Resources Librarians.* Experience with leading through influence* Tolerance for complexity and ambiguity.* Creative thinking and problem solving.* Knowledge of discovery systems, Open URL, EzProxy and authentication methods.* Familiarity with emerging acquisitions, licensing, and access models.

Additional Instructions Quick Link Key AccountabilitiesDescription In alignment with Dartmouth Libraries Collection Development Policy and current research and teaching needs of faculty and students, coordinates the selection and analysis of collections. Assists Associate Dean of Libraries, Collections & Content Strategies in implementing collection strategy.Percentage Of Time 30% Description Negotiates license agreements with publishers/vendors to reach favorable pricing and licensing terms. Coordinates with Head of Scholarly Communication, Copyright and Publishing to improve terms for open access and with other stakeholders to improve license terms for accessibility and patron privacy.Percentage Of Time 25% Description Conducts analysis of collections in support of library strategic objectives. Continually assess cost per use and other collection use metrics and assists in gathering data and statistics for external reporting, such as to ARL, ACRL, etc.Percentage Of Time 20% Description Manages staff members in the Acquisitions Department. Works with staff supervisors in the unit to set work priorities that are consistent with department goals. Sets performance goals and measures achievement.Percentage Of Time 20% Description Participates in professional development activities, which may include research to further the field of librarianship; committee service at the library, campus, state, or national levels; publication; continuing education; and professional association activities. Identifies, evaluates and stays current with emerging trends, resources, practices and standards in collection development, electronic resource management and usage statistics.Percentage Of Time 5% --- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others. -- Performs other duties as assigned.
