    POSITION SUMMARY

    Assists the Nursing Department in the care of patients by preparing for and assisting with all aspects of cardiac monitoring. Essential functions include informing nurses and appropriate members of the health care team of important physiological and cardiac changes. 


    POSITION SUMMARY EXPANDED:

    Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, (“The Unity Bill”) this position is considered a “Safety-sensitive position. “Safety-sensitive” is defined to include “any job that includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.” Employees working in “safety-sensitive” roles are subject to this exception and subject to disciplinary action in the event of a positive test for marijuana or its metabolites.

    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

    • High school diploma or equivalent 
    • Completion of an approved arrhythmia or EKG interpretation class. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITES

    • The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Responsible for assisting providers with cardiac monitoring, therapeutic measures, and procedures related to cardiac monitoring.  
    • Monitor and record physiological measurements including obtaining six second strip as indicated by patient condition. 
    • Responsible for identification of patient arrhythmias, abnormalities or significant changes from baseline and reporting on the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor or other health care team members.  
    • Coordinate and assist with care as directed.  
    • Care and maintenance of cardiac equipment. 
    • Documents and interprets patient’s heart rhythm and rate by utilizing telemetry recordings.  
    • Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of the hospital, and other local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services. 
    • Receive, screen and coordinate telephone calls from patients and healthcare providers.  
    • Responsible for having a broad understanding of the services provided by Supplemental Health Care.  
    • Communicate information clearly to patients, family and staff. 
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
    • Ability to compute ratio, percent, rate, as well as the ability to create and interpret graphs.
