Being a Monitor Technician provides notes to medical staff in charge of the patient. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Additionally, Monitor Technician may require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Monitor Technician works under moderate supervision. The successful candidate :
Organizes and manages patient care activity to support the nursing process and provision of care to the patient. Ensures the proper notification and coordination of the multidisciplinary team.
Maintains clean and orderly stations and monitor proper equipment.
Answers all call lights in a timely manner. Answers phones courteously and directs the call to appropriate personnel.
Provides support to nursing staff and other personnel in the daily activities of the unit and during emergency situations.
Reports any information regarding changes in patient status or activities to the licensed nurse
Monitors heart rhythm patterns of patients in the ICU and on remote telemetry monitors to detect abnormal cardiac rhythms or changes to patient’s baseline rhythm.
Reviews patient information to determine baseline rhythm, current rhythm and any prior variables to rhythm.
Responds appropriately to all alarms and notifies licensed nurse. Measures cardiac intervals and documents. Records and documents cardiac rhythm strip per department policy.
This is a Full-time Nights position where you will function in dual role of Patient Care Technician and Monitor Tech as assigned by the manager, however, will only function in one role at a time.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience
Required Licensure & Certification
PCT certification or CNA license preferred, but not required
Current BLS required.
Monitor tech training with proof of successful completion (rhythm patterns).
