Mixer operates and tends machines that mix materials or ingredients used for production processes or manually mix ingredients. Production - Mixer
Founded in 1997, Pearl Bakery is world-renowned for its artisanal bread and pastries. We not only seek out the finest local ingredients, but we seek out the finest people. As a production bread mixer, you will be primarily scaling and combining ingredients (water, flour, yeast, salt, etc.) into industrial size spiral mixers. After each mix is complete, you will then separate the dough into tubs for the shaping and baking part of the team. Throughout the day you will monitor the temperature and proofing speeds of the dough to control them from being under- or over-proofed.
You will be trained on mixing a variety of bread doughs including Sour, Rye, Brioche, etc. This will be your primary position and you will be starting and setting the pace for the entire days’ worth of bread production.
This position is 4 days/week, Thurs - Sun.
Essential Responsibilities:
The ability to regularly lift 50 pounds, stretch, crouch, bend, walk and stand all-day.
Work in a fast-paced environment, be punctual and reliable.
Be a self-starter and be capable of working alone for a few hours before the rest of the team shows up.
Accurately scale and portion ingredients.
Proper use of dough mixing and general bakery equipment.
Understand the bread production process and be able to adhere to production schedules.
Clearly communicate and follow oral instruction.
Maintain a clean baking facility through daily station cleaning, dishes, and removal of garbage.
Display an understanding and adherence to health and safety regulations.
Be committed quality control and to creating as little food waste as possible.
Adhere to all company policies.
Demonstrate high standards of performance and professionalism.
Willingness to work in other areas of the bakery where qualified and as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
No experience required
A valid Oregon Food handler card
Capability to learn and grow.
At least 18 years old
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience in a high-yield bread production environment.
Competence with mixing using a Spiral Mixer and Planetary Mixer
