Mine Manager is responsible for the overall management of mining projects. Assists in staffing, outlining project plans, setting project goals/deadlines, and evaluating performance. Being a Mine Manager ensures the safety and health of mine workers. Recommends corrective action when problems are detected. Additionally, Mine Manager may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. May require certification by the MSHA. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Mine Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Mine Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. This position is located 30 miles southwest of Farmington, New Mexico on the Navajo Indian Reservation. The mine produces approximately 5 million tons of coal per year and is the sole supplier of coal to the Four Corners Power Plant.

Position Summary:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will diagnose malfunctions and repair, replace and inspect parts on all types of large surface mining equipment including dozers, motor graders, end dump haul trucks, coal haul trucks, large front end loaders, overburden drills, draglines, and Caterpillar and Cummins engines.
