Urban Arborists BTH LLC is a knowledge driven, leading private tree-care company based in Red Hook, Brooklyn, serving the five boroughs of New York City and the surrounding tristate area. Urban Arborists is known for the accuracy of its recommendations and the quality of its work. We love to plant new trees. Over the past two decades, we have planted more than 7000 trees. We also serve hundreds of private clients annually, from those with humble urban backyards or container gardens to luxury condo terraces and historic estates.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Urban Arborists is based on the model of a doctor’s office, not a contractor’s. We prune, plant, assess, diagnose, and care for every kind of tree and shrub in the landscape. We follow the physician’s motto, Prima non nocere, “First do no harm”.

We are looking for an experienced foreman to join our dedicated arboricultural team. As a small and in-demand company we all wear many hats and are accommodating to each other’s special skills and needs. We appreciate those who can recognize what needs to be done and jump in with confidence. Job duties include supervising and directing crew of 4-5 workers in all aspects of tree work, including: the ability to climb and properly prune trees, install cables, bracing and perform removals; safely and properly rig from within the canopy; operate Bobcat skid steerer; properly use chipper and wench, plus must have trouble shooting abilities for both. Must have some supervisory experience. Client interface is a significant portion of the job so good rapport and ability to communicate clearly and effectively are critical.

This is a job to grow in. UA BTH LLC eagerly supports continuing education, including advanced ISA and other qualifications, and course work in tree management and integrated pest management.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• ISA Certified Arborist strongly preferred
• Must have supervisory experience
• 3 years of arboriculture or related horticultural experience or education required
• Minimum of 3 years climbing experience
• Valid Driver’s license
• Ability to take initiative, problem solve and work independently
• Ability to operate a Bobcat skid steer
• CDL a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
