Busy Multispecialty Ophthalmology Clinic looking to add an ophthalmic assistant to our practice.
Responsibilities:
- Assist doctors in providing patient care
- Perform preliminary eye exams, including measuring visual acuity and intraocular pressure
- Prepare patients for procedures and assist during examinations
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by healthcare providers
- Conduct diagnostic tests, such as visual field testing and retinal imaging
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient
- Provide patient education on eye care, contact lens use, and post-operative care
- Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information, and answering phones as needed.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic physiology and eye anatomy
- Excellent patient care skills, including the ability to make patients feel comfortable and at ease during exams
- Familiarity with medical coding and billing procedures
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems
- Experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse patient population.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining medical records and documentation
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
