Mine Foreman supervises a staff who prepares, inspects, and works in mining projects such as underground or surface mining. Ensures the staff performs project research, design calculations, and records accuracy of mining activities. Being a Mine Foreman may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty or in a related area. May require certification by the MSHA. Additionally, Mine Foreman typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Mine Foreman manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Does all construction and maintenance work assigned in accordance with specifications as indicated by the engineer while training and supervising others assigned to work with him/her. Provides technical direction to linemen. Performs, supervises and trains others in all types of construction and maintenance on transmission conductors, structures and equipment, both energized and de-energized. Carries out work order assignments, interprets prints, and prepares daily time sheets, material tickets, and field and inspection reports as required.
