Millwright maintains industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools. Moves, assembles, installs or dismantles machinery. Being a Millwright interprets schematic diagrams, blueprints, and sketches. Analyzes plans for new equipment and maps out space to unpack and assemble new equipment. Additionally, Millwright troubleshoots problems and repairs or replaces worn or broken parts as necessary. May use equipment like forklifts, aerial lifters, and cranes to move heavy or unwieldy machinery. May perform welding, fabrication, or calibration as needed. Follows all work site safety requirements and regulations. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require OSHA Forklift Operator Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Millwright works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Millwright typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. Job Summary
The primary objective of the Maintenance Millwright is to maintain the mill and yard equipment in proper working order. Additionally, this person will complete PM work orders in a timely manner to ensure overall efficiency meets or exceeds the company standards set forth. The daily activities of any maintenance personnel is subject to change due to the needs of the mill and scheduled hours must be flexible.
Duties and Responsibilities
o Work longer hours on short notice
o Communicating with the purchaser and Sawmill Manager to further support cost effective ways to manage purchasing and inventory controlfacility wide
o Working with the PM Parts Purchaser and Sawmill Manager to build a Preventive Maintenance program for each area that is easily maintained
o Follow PM program per the instructions outlined
o Complete training to complete HOT WORK Permits
o Knowledge of cutting torches
o Weld/Fabricate
o Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools
o Troubleshoot and replace / repair defective parts
o Adjust clearances and align parts
o Problem Solving
o Travel to all locations as needed
o Work a minimum of 20% OFF production hours each week (when the facility is not running)
o All other duties as assigned
Qualifications /Requirements
§ High School Diploma or Equivalent
§ Effective Written and Oral communication skills
§ Able to work well with minimal supervision
§ Ability to Prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
