Millwright maintains industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools. Moves, assembles, installs or dismantles machinery. Being a Millwright interprets schematic diagrams, blueprints, and sketches. Analyzes plans for new equipment and maps out space to unpack and assemble new equipment. Additionally, Millwright troubleshoots problems and repairs or replaces worn or broken parts as necessary. May use equipment like forklifts, aerial lifters, and cranes to move heavy or unwieldy machinery. May perform welding, fabrication, or calibration as needed. Follows all work site safety requirements and regulations. Typically requires a high school diploma. May require OSHA Forklift Operator Certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Millwright works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Millwright typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. Position Summary:
Must be well-versed in the latest diagnostic equipment and technical manuals. They constantly deal with setting up, maintaining, and repairing intricate and sometimes massive machines.
Responsibilities:
· Machinery assembly, alignment (rotating and production machinery).
· Experience with hoisting, rigging, installing, setting, aligning, removal and commissioning of equipment.
· Disassembly, inspection, repair/rebuild & reassembly in shop and field of all types of rotating and production equipment. Machinist background a plus.
· Sheet metal and/or steel fabrication, welding (with or without blueprints).
· Proficient in use of variety of machinist hand tools, precision alignment & measuring instruments used for set-up and operation of machine shop equipment.
· Repair/Assemble bushings, bearings, couplings, shafts, sleeves, rings, liners, gears and wheels.
· Field service calls will take place in the RI/Massachusetts area.
Qualifications:
Millwrights need to have excellent manual dexterity, as the job involves the regular handling of small parts. They must have extensive knowledge of the machinery they will be expected to operate. You must be Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and cognizant of safety risks.
· Mechanical aptitude in dealing with wrenches, hammers, forklifts, and other similar tools.
· Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to allow them to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints.
· Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues.
· Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail
· Ability to be a team player due to constant interactions with similar employees and stakeholders such as Engineers, Plant Managers, and Part Vendors, amongst others.
