Middleware Engineer performs design, development, installation, tuning, and maintenance of middleware applications. Provisions platforms and infrastructure with middleware solutions. Being a Middleware Engineer analyzes requirements to implement effective middleware architecture, resolve technical issues, and optimize performance. Defines and documents technical designs and system configurations. Additionally, Middleware Engineer coordinates with application development and cross-functional technical teams to enable and support middleware integrations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Middleware Engineer works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Communicates on a regular basis with the Engineering Manager. Follows directives from Engineering Manager. Confers with relevant personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop designs. Confers with toolroom and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required. Provides mentoring to Engineering group. Provides pertinent information for quoting process (determines equipment/tooling/raw materials/component costs, processes and rates).
Analyzes product or equipment specifications and requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Determines feasibility of die, gage, and other tooling/machine designs considering costs, available machine, capacity limitations, and other technical and economic factors. Prepares, reviews and controls and distributes detailed die, gage, tooling layouts, gage calibration prints, drawings and schematics. Performs research and development projects. Utilizes CMM machine to layout parts and to verify/calibrate gages. Participates in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) Provide additional information and completion of documentation through APQP process. Participates in PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
Required to design with solid modeling software and to download and translate files to and from customers and suppliers.
Timely and appropriate communication with customers and suppliers.
Actively participates in Six S activities. Participates in employee training programs and other company meetings as required.
