General Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for designing and evaluating processes that will enhance productivity, product quality, and product flow, while reducing costs through layout improvements, machinery specifications and development of new technologies.
Works under general direction of the Operations Manager; exercises discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis; and high degree of creativity is expected.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Functions as internal consultant in the areas of productivity improvement, process efficiencies, cost reduction, and facility layout.
Researches and develops new technologies to enhance efficiencies, product quality and productivity.
Works with the Quality Control team to ensure compliance with code reports.
Ensures UFP and ICC-ES standards and procedures are followed.
Identifies and implements changes to the process to enhance overall appearance of finish product.
Maintains process manuals and communicates changes to impacted teams throughout the plant.
Oversees testing equipment is maintained and calibrations are up to date
Troubleshoots production related problems and assists in bringing the product back into specification.
Oversees QC database and PKD's are up-to-date and accurate
Develops QC standards and improvements with Process Engineers as needed
Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of related machinery and equipment for possible operation applications and assists in machinery and equipment specification.
Collaborates with UFP Corporate Engineering with testing methods
Manages all aspects of the development and implementation of production projects and helps improving product claims database.
Prepares various reports as required.
Performs other duties as required.
Job Specifications
Knowledge
Bachelor degree in engineering related discipline or equivalent experience is required.
Minimum 3 years of Experience in QC, manufacturing environment is required.
Working knowledge on L, A, B color measurements is preferred
Working knowledge of CIE Color Space Training is preferred
Working knowledge of current QA test practices is preferred
Working knowledge of complete product line is preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Working experience with AutoCad
Preferred experience and knowledge on UFP's organization, culture, and product lines
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.
