Middleware Engineer performs design, development, installation, tuning, and maintenance of middleware applications. Provisions platforms and infrastructure with middleware solutions. Being a Middleware Engineer analyzes requirements to implement effective middleware architecture, resolve technical issues, and optimize performance. Defines and documents technical designs and system configurations. Additionally, Middleware Engineer coordinates with application development and cross-functional technical teams to enable and support middleware integrations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Middleware Engineer works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. We are currently seeking a skilled and dynamic Middleware Engineer to join our client's team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting both on-premises middle-tier COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) and cloud-based SaaS (Software as a Service) applications. Responsibilities include software installation and patching, creating and maintaining data processes between systems, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to the development of reports and dashboards.
Technical Skills:
Application Support: Supporting and maintaining several middle-tier COTS applications (on-premises) and cloud-based SaaS applications.
Data Processes and Integration: Documenting, creating, implementing, and maintaining data processes between systems; integrating systems using various methods.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Creating datasets from source systems for reporting and analytics; validating data between systems; developing reports and dashboards using data blending techniques.
Troubleshooting: Timely resolution of issues as they arise.
Web Development: Creating websites using a content management system; utilizing web development technologies such as Java, jQuery, JavaScript, .NET.
Communication and Reporting: Providing weekly updates on ongoing tasks, including any encountered issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Application Support: Experience supporting large-scale COTS applications, including installation, patching, and database support; familiarity with supporting SaaS cloud-based systems.
Database and Integration: Familiarity with OLTP, data warehouse, data marts, and data lake databases; experience with SQL and integrating systems using various methods.
Web Development: Experience with web development technologies such as Java, jQuery, JavaScript, .NET.
Data Processing and Reporting: Experience utilizing Pentaho or other ETL tools; knowledge of data blending techniques for reporting and analytics.
Communication Skills: Ability to gather business requirements and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Compliance and License Management: Ensuring compliance with vendor license agreements.
Personal Skills: Self-starter who can work independently; team player capable of blending into a friendly working environment.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with Electric Utility’s IT environment is a plus.
Experience with any ETL tool.
Experience working with vendors' APIs to create data processes between systems.
Creating Technical documents like SSP (System Security Plan) and interface specifications.
Experience Minimum:
3 to 4 years of Data modeling experience with an ETL tool.
2 to 3 years of Web Development experience.
Experience with Middle-tier system architecture.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree.
