Responsibilities And Duties:

The analyst is responsible for maintaining biological tests, preparing media /standards, using the autoclave for media/disposal sterilization, calibration of equipment, analyses of samples, general laboratory maintenance and cleaning.

Duties include the routine testing of soil, water, wipe and air samples for Total Coliform, E. Coli, HPC, Enterococci and other basic bacteriological and fungal constituents. The ability to set up and implement new bacteria and water suitability testing.

Any analyses performed are to be done in accordance with prescribed EPA or Standard Methods based on department protocols.

Qualifications:

• A four-year college degree in Microbiology, biological sciences or another closely related environmental science discipline
• Candidate will have working laboratory experience and a basic lab skill set
• Clear and concise communication with Project Managers
• Multi-tasking is essential in the lab environment along with attention to detail in completing all tasks
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Familiarity with a Laboratory Information Management (LIMS) database would be preferred
• Good mechanical and troubleshooting skills are an asset
• Teamwork-driven personality with a strong work ethic and desire to learn
