    Humboldt Redwood Company is seeking a GIS Analyst I. This position is an onsite position and can be based in Ukiah, Fort Bragg or Scotia. 

     

    The base salary for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 depending on experience.  Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education and/or experience.  Please keep in mind that that the range published is the full base salary. We also offer a generous benefits package.

     

    The position of GIS Analyst will work as a GIS team member to support forestry operations and forest science staff with an emphasis on quality control of incoming GIS data. They will work to maintain process flow of GIS data to develop and maintain a centralized enterprise geodatabase system. Primary duties include helping our team of scientists and forestry professionals with GIS processes, analysis, and map production. The successful candidate will configure mobile and desktop editing applications to feed our centralized geodatabase. This includes the creation of Enterprise Portal feature services, web maps, editing applications, and dashboards. The person in this role would take a strong initiative to contribute to problem-solving as part of a small GIS team reporting to the GIS Manager.

     

    The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world.     Responsibilities

    • Complete advanced geo-processing request from forestry and forest-science staff utilizing available datasets.
    • Create and edit spatial and tabular datasets for inclusion into the enterprise geodatabase for analysis and map production.
    • Develop and follow process flows for data capture, QAQC, and entry into the enterprise geodatabase.
    • Create presentation quality maps using ArcPro.
    • Publish mobile map packages and web maps for all company use.
    • Utilize Python programming and model-builder skills to automate processes and address advanced reporting requirements.
    • Maintain existing geo-spatial data sets while working with the GIS team to build the centralized, enterprise level ESRI portal platform to collect, maintain, and report on those datasets.
    • Configure mobile applications using Field Maps, Survey 123, and QuickCapture to address needs within the business for data collection, workflow, and navigation.
    • Configure web maps, web editing applications and dashboards.
    • Communicate effectively orally and in writing, especially avoiding the use of technical terms or jargon with internal customers.
    • Follow-through on complex assignments in a fast-paced environment.
    • Work on several projects simultaneously and prioritize product delivery as demand necessitates.
    • Participate in team planning meetings to communicate progress and coordinate ongoing efforts.
    • Effectively document projects and procedures developed.
    • Be a positive team member helping people of all skill levels with GIS tasks. Teach others GIS skills: editing methods and best practices, advanced editing, and geoprocessing tools that will help with their work.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from accredited four-year college or university in GIS or Geography with specialization in GIS.
    • A results-oriented mindset including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Advanced geo-processing skills, usage of model-builder, and Python coding skills.
    • Experience developing mobile applications on the ESRI platform
    • Experience creating geodatabases with an understanding of schema, data types, and domain creation.
    • Ability to create relationship classes with 1 to many relationships.
    • Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Ability to build strong relationships with all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to take feedback from forestry and forest science professionals to meet their needs as new tools or datasets are developed or existing tools or datasets are refined.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Must carry or be able to obtain a valid California Driver’s License and be eligible to operate a company vehicle under company policy guidelines.
    • Travel within the state of California 10-15% of work time.

    Physical Requirements

    • The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    • Ability to navigate alone in remote mountainous regions using map and compass, may include hiking or walking long distances.
    • Position may require travel locally, usually by pickup, up to 25% of the time.
