Job Title: Gas Meter Relight Technician

Paid on-the-job ramp-up orientation • Day shifts •  4/10 Flexible schedules with OT potential.

Grid One Solutions is actively hiring Gas Meter Relight Technicians. As a Gas Meter Relight Technician, you’ll perform change-outs of existing gas utility meters and install gas module upgrades, as required, as well as shut down and relighting of gas appliances.

Job Type: Full-Time , Non-Exempt

Pay: The pay range is between $25 - $45 based on experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Perform change-outs of existing gas utility meters and install gas module upgrades, as required.
• Responsible for the safe operation of a company vehicle, equipment, and tools.
• Commitment to complete work assignments and high meter reading accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to shut down and relight gas appliances.
• The ability to identify hazardous conditions as it relates to gas appliances.
• Be proficient in gas appliance safeties and operations.
• Computer and smartphone literate
• Ability to read maps and navigate in congested areas.
• Independently manage time and workload to meet deadlines.
• Mechanically inclined and has experience with a variety of tools.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with little or no supervision
• This is a minimum 40-hour workweek with Saturdays considered inclement weather make-up days.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year(s) experience with gas meter exchange and relight.
• NY State required NGA OQ #6b, #20c, #70, #72b, #85.
• A Gas Fitter’s License is a plus.
• 3 years of driving experience with minimal non-moving violations.

License & Certifications:

• Driver License Required.

Physical Requirements:

• Rare: (less than 10%): crawling, climbing ladders, sitting, climbing
• Occasional: (up to 33%): kneeling, climbing on/off a truck, lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent: (up to 66%): standing, walking, stooping, squatting, manual dexterity, seeing distant, reaching, hearing-speech range, depth perception, body-twisting, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs, reading, color vision, lifting, balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs
• Continuous: (up to 100%): a sense of touch, seeing, speaking clearly, gripping, range of motion, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs

Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
