Analyzes weather model guidance and issues specialized hazardous weather forecasts when warranted. Being a Meteorologist requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Meteorologist work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group.     Position Title: Field Meteorologist

    Position Reports to: VP-Meteorology or Chief Meteorologist

    Location: Central Northern Plains of North America and/or Northern Rocky Mountains.


    Primary Operational Objectives:

    Weather Modification International is seeking to hire a full-time meteorologist to conduct and/or assist forecasting, operations, and recordkeeping for cloud seeding program(s) beginning in May 2024.


    Essential Job Functions include:

    • Forecasting of cloud and precipitation development in warm- and cold-season environments.
    • Observation and interpretation of digital weather radar and GOES satellite data.
    • Direction of ground and airborne cloud-seeding operations.
    • Maintenance of meteorological and project operations records on daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
    • Assistance with project reporting.
    • Adherence to established reporting formats, procedures, and nomenclatures.
    • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.
    • Maintain customer confidence and protect company and client interests by keeping documents and other information confidential.
    • Compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Pre-project training will be provided.


    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent attention to detail.
    • Computer skills, especially within the Windows and Linux operating systems.
    • Knowledge or experience forecasting in diverse environments for a variety of end-users. Specific experience forecasting convective hazards for aviation and property, forecasting in mountainous terrain, and forecasting synoptic-scale winter storms including Atmospheric River events is preferred.
    • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Must be able to travel internationally. A valid passport is required.
    • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

    • Occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling.
    • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs occasionally.
