    • You will serve as Interdisciplinary (Physical Scientist/Oceanographer/Geophysicist) in the OCEAN DATABASES BRANCH (NP311), DATABASES AND ANALYSIS DIVISION (NP31), OCEANOGRAPHIC DEPARTMENT (NP3), NAVAL OCEANOGRAPHIC OFFICE, PEARL HARBOR, HI.
    • You will develop and manage training program of fundamental and advanced techniques in all aspects of tropical meteorology, tropical cyclone forecasting, and satellite analysis.
    • You will maintain, update, and develop new lesson plans and courses of instruction by utilizing expertise in the subject matter, understanding new developments and technologies and implementing them into the command training plan.
    • You will maintain comprehensive professional knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of meteorology, climatology, satellite remote sensing systems and imagery interpretation.

    BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
    A. Degree: meteorology, atmospheric science, or other natural science major that included
    • At least 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of credit in meteorology/atmospheric science including a minimum of:
      • Six semester hours of atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics;*
      • Six semester hours of analysis and prediction of weather systems (synoptic/mesoscale);
      • Three semester hours of physical meteorology; and
      • Two semester hours of remote sensing of the atmosphere and/or instrumentation.
    • Six semester hours of physics, with at least one course that includes laboratory sessions.*
    • Three semester hours of ordinary differential equations.*
    • At least nine semester hours of course work appropriate for a physical science major in any combination of three or more of the following: physical hydrology, statistics, chemistry, physical oceanography, physical climatology, radiative transfer, aeronomy, advanced thermodynamics, advanced electricity and magnetism, light and optics, and computer science.

    B. Combination of education and experience - course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education


    EXPERIENCE:
    In addition to the basic education requirements, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
    • Experience applying meteorological theory and concepts, with specialized knowledge of tropical meteorology and application to tropical cyclone forecasting
    • Experience utilizing meteorological equipment, instrumentation, data types, and data formats
    • Experience utilizing satellite remote sensing concepts, imagery interpretation, numerical weather prediction concepts and application to operational forecasting
    • Experience with Navy organization and policy, training instructions regulations, and forms.
    • Experience planning and organizing work, managing resources, and leading department personnel to meet deadlines.
    • Experience interpreting regulations, refine methods, and resolve complex training issues or take appropriate courses of action.
