The Principal Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst will directly support the Business Development team to ensure successful execution of inorganic transactions. This role will lead and assist across all stages of the business development life cycle and must have strong financial modeling experience to perform due diligence on potential acquisition targets. This employee will also provide strategic financial insight to the management team through financial projections, modeling, and forecasting.
Specific responsibilities include: Directly supporting the business development team to identify, prioritize and execute M&A and other business development transactions from start to finish; Partnering with and supporting the Business Development team and other functions in the execution of complex M&A projects, corporate strategy and deal analysis; Leading the execution of mid-sized M&A projects; Developing complex valuation and financial analyses (DCF, market multiples assessment impact to Sirtex financials etc.); Assisting and managing due diligence processes, including project management; Developing business case materials and presentations to support internal reviews; Supporting deal negotiations, and participating in discussions with targets and their advisors; Supporting legal documentation, including coordinating contracts and closing transactions; Performing research and industry benchmarking using various databases and sources, such as equity research, FactSet; Strategy Formation - Supporting annual and long-term strategy development; Organizing suitable forums to create strategy narrative; Conducting market / competitor analysis to establish market size and shares and monitor competitive behavior incl. investment, M&A and other; Preparing financial projections including required investments and revenues/costs/profits per business development project; Strategy Execution -Supporting efforts to communicate the regional strategy across the organization; Identifying strategic topics and prioritizing based on value and strategic alignment; Managing monthly strategic topic updates including reporting to senior management, tracking project results (opportunities, issues, risks); Supporting selected strategic project managers in their implementation efforts; For selected strategic projects, establishing business plans and a detailed integrated project plan to execute and track progress against.
This is a hybrid position: May work remotely 2 days but report to the office 3 days per week. Up to 15% of time national and international travel required.
QualificationsMinimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, plus 5 years of experience in the field of strategy/business development or investment banking.
Alternate Education and Experience: Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, plus 1 year of experience in the field of strategy/business development or investment banking.
Must have: Experience in Pharma, Biotech, Medical Device, or other relevant technology industry. Prior experience with due diligence. Strong analytical skills, profound understanding of financial statements. Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, detail oriented. Ability to organize, facilitate and/or manage a pipeline of different projects; able to deal with ambiguity. Strategic, big-picture thinking backed by a deep focus on the detail oriented requirements. Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong project management skills. Superior organization and management skills with the ability to prioritize assignments. Strong interpersonal skills, an energetic, proactive, flexible individual who can work independently and as a team player, with high integrity and ethics in all dealings. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights, weekends and holidays as required; perseverance and ability to inspire others without having hierarchical influence. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
