Merchandise Planner plans and forecasts for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels. Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments. Being a Merchandise Planner plans and coordinates merchandise flow-through. Inputs and maintains data in various merchandising systems. Additionally, Merchandise Planner may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Merchandise Planner gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Make adjustments to Master Schedule as directed. Schedules orders for purchasing and production according to Senior Planner. Collaborates with team members or department supervisors to resolve constraints or delays of assigned products or components. Works with Purchasing Team to ensure material and outside service requirements are met, Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions or constraints. Communicates updated availability information to Sales and other stakeholder groups. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma and/or GED required. 2-3 years of administration in a manufacturing environment AS degree and 5 years of combination of experience preferred, Experience in packing, kitting, industrial products, or machined assemblies a plus. Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma. Excellent communication and report writing skills; attention to detail. Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment. Proficiency in ERP Systems, MS Office and Outlook. Physical Demands: No restrictions on wearing required PPE for area, including safety eyewear and steel toed shoes.
