Merchandise Planner plans and forecasts for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels. Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments. Being a Merchandise Planner plans and coordinates merchandise flow-through. Inputs and maintains data in various merchandising systems. Additionally, Merchandise Planner may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Merchandise Planner gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.   • SUMMARY
    Prepares complete estimates for assigned project(s) and determines project plans and specifications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures
    • Estimates worker-hours and materials required to complete the job
    • Reviews specifications, drawings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates
    • Maintains files of working documents and back-up for estimate figures.
    • Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities.
    • Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work sites
    • Follows all hazardous waste handling guidelines.
    • Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
    • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required. Requirements: JOB REQUIREMENTS
    • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
    • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
    • Follow contracts as assigned.
    • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
    • Plan work and select proper tools.
    • Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects.
    • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
    • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
    • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
