Merchandise Planner plans and forecasts for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels. Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments. Being a Merchandise Planner plans and coordinates merchandise flow-through. Inputs and maintains data in various merchandising systems. Additionally, Merchandise Planner may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Merchandise Planner gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     The Planner’s responsibilities include, but not limited to:  
    • Support project planning by liaising with municipal agencies for required submissions and approvals.
    • Advocate for organizational interests in meetings with authorities involved in planning and permitting.
    • Review architectural plans to support Program Directors and ensure adherence to design standards.
    • Provide ongoing code and constructability review for the Architectural discipline.
    • Coordinate plan review services and resolve planning and technical conflicts.
    • Develop planning models aligned with departmental and institutional priorities.
    • Participate in planning objectives and strategy incorporation into departmental plans.
    • Manage authorizations through clear presentations for informed decision-making.
    • Provide recommendations on planning, design issues, and large-scale planning studies.
    • Review progress and quality of work by outside and in-house consultants.
    • Advise on conformity with specifications, codes, regulations, and design standards.
    • Develop architectural program requirements and overall project budgets.
    • Manage consultant selection and ensure planning phase completion within approved budget and schedule.
    Desired experience:
    • A minimum of 7 years of Planning experience and having worked as a planner on at least one of the following project types: laboratory, research, and academic building projects or programs. 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Planning is required 
    • Prior experience planning complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing renovation projects greater than $50 million, preferably in an occupied facility.
    • Strong self-starter and with ability to work independently on-site while collaborating with corporate team as needed
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
    • Proven ability to manage challenging, multi-faceted projects.
    • Well versed in all construction industry delivery methods.
    • Advance proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook as well as Bluebeam & other industry standard software.
    • Ability to successfully pass a thorough criminal background
