Merchandise Planner - Deli develops strategies and techniques to increase sales of deli meats and other products. Analyzes department profits and profit margins of individual items. Being a Merchandise Planner - Deli controls ordering, inventory, and quality of deli products. Responsible for increasing business with new and existing customers. Additionally, Merchandise Planner - Deli may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Merchandise Planner - Deli typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Responsibilities:
- Cut, trim, and package meat products according to customer specifications
- Ensure proper food safety and sanitation practices are followed during all stages of food preparation and production
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and rotation of products
- Assist customers with their meat selection and provide excellent customer service
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operation of the meat department
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Meat Cutter or similar role in the food industry is preferred
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food preparation methods
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to use and maintain various cutting tools, such as knives and saws
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
