The Merchandise Planner's key responsibilities to include strategic business analysis, developing merchandising plans, managing the Open to Buy as well as driving the in-season business review process.
• Works closely with Buying teams to build profitable merchandise assortments through analysis of business and identification of trends.• In-season management of business (maximize any potential financial opportunity or minimize any potential financial risk)• Develop annual departmental merchandising plans for all financial metrics (sales, markdowns, receipts, transfers, inventory, profit, etc.)• Manage OTBs (dept/class & theme) by forecasting financial metrics and making appropriate and necessary recommendations, as needed.• Develop and manage ad hoc and/or standardized reporting to monitor financial performance for individual business and organizationally, as needed.• Work with planning and retail leadership to develop and implement strategic business initiatives through analyses and recommendations.
Experience and Education• High school diploma and 2 - 3 years of Merchandise Planning experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Knowledge and Skills• Knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and retail planning concepts.• Proficient in the use of Planning and Retail systems.• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, in particular). • Strong analytical skills.• Excellent written and oral communication.• Ability to impact and influence people, businesses, and processes.• Must be a team player
