  • Position Summary

    The Buyer is responsible for the process of procuring chemical materials for the Chemical Distribution and Chemical Management programs at Chemico.

    Responsibilities/Duties:

      • Process material receipts and selling of chemical materials in MAS.
      • Assist in completion of customer invoices.
      • Completes accounts payable, account reconciliation, and inventory reports.
      • Assists in identification of alternate materials and suppliers.
      • Creates purchase orders in MAS based on customer requests or requirements and sends purchase order to appropriate supplier.
      • Follows up with suppliers to confirm receipt of purchase order and assure required delivery dates can be met.
      • Monitor product lead times and report out to site manager.
      • Tracks order progress to receipt of goods at customer location.
      • Interacts with customers and on-site personnel on delivery, quality or any other issues on purchase order.
      • Establishes and continually manages effective supplier relations.
      • Completes physical inventories (where applicable) and conducts material planning based on customer needs.
      • Complete GHS labeling for secondary containers as required.
      • Complete HMCC / HMC labeling for all products as required by customer.
      • Work with supplier / vendors to assure empty containers are removed in a timely fashion.
      • Follow all customer safety guidelines.
      • Attend meetings as required by customer.
      • Supervise product deliveries and delivery to point of use / inventory location.
      • Familiarity with customer software (SAP, Olympic, etc.)
      • Performs other duties and special projects as required.

    Knowledge, skills and abilities:

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Purchasing, or related field of study is desired, or a minimum of 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of Education and Experience.
    • Experience in Chemical Industry and familiarity with Chemical Supply Chain.
    • Negotiation skills and experience working with large corporations.
    • Ability to work with both technical and administrative personnel.
    • Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task.
    • Ability to adhere to and meet strict deadlines.
    • Strong administrative and data management skills.
    • Ability to raise issues proactively and in a timely manner.
    • Excellent customer service skills.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Associate degree with direct experience.
    • 1-2 years of purchasing experience
    • Exposure to working in large manufacturing environments.

    Work Environment:

    Ability to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment. This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role requires presence on the manufacturing floor and walking on concrete surfaces. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Ability to work in team fostered environment. Ability to work in multi-tasked environment. Strong personality and focus in fast- paced and demanding environments. Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
