    Performs primary and essential duties as Buyer, to include conducting the full range of purchasing functions for Hospital medical and surgical products. Uses strong product knowledge to determine the most cost-effective procurement strategy. Meets with vendors regularly to review pricing and evaluate new product. Assists with inventory control of stock items and coordinates product changes with the Distribution Manager. Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the use of computers in a business environment. Demonstrates and promotes strong customer service skills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS • Responds to requests for supplies and equipment in a timely manner • Monitors purchase requisitions from departments for accuracy • Regularly reviews and solves invoice discrepancies • Regularly reviews and solves invoice open purchase orders • Maintains high emphasis on customer service EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE• A mental development equivalent to completion of one to two years of college and capable of solving routine, practical problems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to:• Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
