Merchandise Buyer Assistant, Sr. assists merchandise buyers in selecting merchandise, placing orders, and distributing inventory. Responsible for inventory replenishment with open-to-buy responsibilities over a segment of the buyer's department. Being a Merchandise Buyer Assistant, Sr. may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Merchandise Buyer Assistant, Sr. typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. MAJOR AREAS RESPONSIBILITY
- Monitor daily report and execute purchase orders for inventory replenishment.
- Work to improve inventory turns.
- Perform inventory control and maintenance activities on MRP system to ensure accurate part numbers, pricing, quantity, location etc.
- Expedite orders.
- Monitor Supplier performance.
- Champion our ISO program by actively participating in implementing and refining the process.
- Assists Purchasing Manager in establishing and communicating purchasing guidelines.
- Work with Accounts Payable and others to resolve invoice and purchase order discrepancies.
- Build relationships with key vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
1) Bachelor’s degree in business or related field- preferred
2) 4 years purchasing experience in an industrial distribution or manufacturing environment. Prefer experience at an ISO certified company.
3) Experience with managing inventory and inventory turns
4) Leading/ mentoring buyers knowledge is preferred
