Merchandise Buyer Assistant, Sr. assists merchandise buyers in selecting merchandise, placing orders, and distributing inventory. Responsible for inventory replenishment with open-to-buy responsibilities over a segment of the buyer's department. The Golf Merchandise Buyer will manage all merchandising activities for two Pro Shops. This position will develop strategies for brands and assortment for apparel, footwear, and accessories, designed to increase sales and Member/Guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will purchase merchandise, control inventories, and maintain vendor relationships.
Essential Functions:
Manage all merchandising activities in both Golf Pro Shops.
Provides superior, first-class customer service to Members & Guests.
Purchase appropriate merchandise for both Golf Pro Shops and oversee merchandise displays and overall presentation of merchandise.
Monitor’s business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
Answering telephone, receives payments, resolves discrepancies as it applies to duplicate charges and over or under payment.
Be fiscally responsible for merchandising budget.
Establishes merchandising plans, implements action steps, and adjusts plan based on progress towards goals.
Maintains effective stock levels and ensures stock presentations are appropriate for all seasons.
Places and helps members with any special orders or merchandise upon request.
Ensures follow-up on past due orders and that canceled orders are communicated timely.
Works with Director of Golf on "open to buy" or other buying strategies.
Monitors the receipt of merchandise, pricing of merchandise, and tracks inventory levels.
Presents merchandise in attractive displays and rotate keeping a fresh look to golf shop.
Creates weekly displays showcasing new and unique products.
Produce financial reports relating to both Golf Pro Shops.
Works closely with the accounting office on accounts receivable and accounts payable issues. Ensures available discounts are utilized.
Works closely with tournaments and groups that involve prizes and tee gifts.
Performs monthly inventory counts to ensure proper inventory control.
Ensures stockrooms are kept organized so that items are easy to locate.
Ensures replacement and return policies are adhered to.
All other duties as assigned.
