Merchandise Buyer Assistant, Sr. jobs in Barnstable, MA

The Assistant Buyer is responsible for ordering products, ensuring timely delivery to the warehouse to meet delivery and pick-up dates scheduled by sales associates.

Responsibilities include:

• Review written sales orders to be familiar with any special orders and low stock.
• Place stock and special orders.
• Check IR schedules to ensure product is ordered at the right time to maximize profit while meeting the delivery needs of customers.
• Print and deliver the Ship List to warehouse staff.
• Run the low stock report.
• Physically check on inventory in the warehouse and work closely with the warehouse manager to meet delivery schedules.
• Assist with invoice processing.
• Assist sales team with orders: provide status updates, keeping them aware of product availability and of back orders to create an action plan with the customer.
• Updating price sheets with industry codes and color codes.
• Data processing of monthly Spiffs, uploading the data sheets to the online vendor websites, and resolving any spiff related issues to ensure payment.
• Coordinate with marketing staff, utilizing technology and process improvements when possible, to improve merchandising effectiveness and sales results.
• Build knowledge and understanding of product turns, margin, and brand strategies, as well as considerations (merchandising and business strategies) required to make product selections for the sales floor. Perform related analysis to enable merchandising decisions.
• Attend tradeshows and vendor trainings to gain industry knowledge, stay informed of product updates and general trends of suppliers/brands.

Candidate Requirements:

• Proficiency in use of POS systems and technology platforms including Microsoft Office, and on-line support resources.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; prioritizing, taking initiative and communicating effectively.
• Work schedule flexibility (periodic weekend work as required); potential for some remote work as needed.
